How it all Began.

A woman with sunglasses wearing a blue shirt and jeans standing in a wheat field, saluting with her right hand while pointing forward with her left hand, with euros falling from the sky.

Hi, I'm Janelle.
(aka "the bushel girl" or "talk bushels")

I'm a farm kid first, everything else second.

My ag career started at the very bottom, and I mean that literally: a summer student at the local elevator with a broom in my hand and a driveway that refused to stay clean. Turns out sweeping is a pretty good place to learn how this whole business actually works! From there I moved into grain buying and merchandising, then took on seed, fertilizer, and chemical sales. If a farmer needed it, I was the one tracking it down.

A person with blonde hair, wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap, and black clothing, sitting inside the hollow center of a gigantic tractor tire with yellow rim and black tread, outdoors with dry grass at the bottom.

Eventually I outgrew the elevator world. With 15+ years in the business, plus keen knowledge of how to manage my own farm, I figured my unique ag experience needed to be heard. Now I run a grain-marketing advisory and information service full time, helping farmers across the Prairies market their grain without the guesswork. And when I'm not watching the markets for my clients? I'm doing the exact same thing for my own farm's books — because I don't just talk this stuff, I live it. Literally.

I've got opinions, I'll give it to you straight, and I'll probably make you laugh while I do it. But underneath the sass is the reason I actually do this: I have a deep love for agriculture and the people who feed the world, and I want to see your farm (and your next generation) come out ahead.

Whether you are interested in my services, or just follow along my social media journey, I’m happy to have you here.
